Children will be warmly welcomed and shown around the classroom space. They will have the ability to work indoors or outdoors as they wish. We value all learning opportunities and will incorporate learning goals into the activities of choice for your child. Each day will look different in our learning space!
Parents are required to stay onsite but feel free to make yourself at home with. a cuppa on the couch, or you may stay in your car if you prefer.
The beautifully displayed shelves around the room contain a wide variety of curriculum options available. The work will either be selected by the child- pending a lesson from the teacher- or the teacher will invite the child to a lesson when the child is available.
We take one job off the shelf at a time, complete the activity and put it back when we are finished, ready for the next person. This teaches us to care for our belongings and our space, as well as extends focus and concentration and deliberate actions. In our classroom, we can work at our own pace for as long as we like on an activity. We can work independently or with a friend.
The teacher might be working 1-1 with a child at the same time another child is working independently on a task, and thus allowing for independent thinking, choice and self correction.
Learning how to navigate this space will be a focus while we are new, for adults and children alike! Please ask questions after the session.
The classroom will be equipped with engaging activities using multi sensory materials in a wide range of curriculum areas including Literacy, Numeracy, Culture, Geography, Sensorial, Puzzles, Practical Life, Zoology, Botany, Science, Food Preparation, Gardening, Sport.
The learning material on the shelves will be modified depending on the children in the classroom and their interests, abilities and prior understanding.
A consultation with parents and teacher is important to curate an individualised curriculum. We can tailor learning plans based on school readiness, focus on literacy, focus on fostering curiosity, focus on extending learning experiences from homeschool. Each child in the class will have their own individualised lesson plans and learning goals.
Children will first attend an individual session with Bec, and from there be placed into an appropriate small group of no more than 4 children based on interests, abilities and personality types. If you have a preference for day and time, please get in touch.
Individual and small group classroom sessions are $100 for an hour and a half. Food preparation activities are included in this fee. Please let us know of any food preferences or allergies before attending. The individual and small group sessions are the same price as each option holds its own unique benefits. In a 1-1 session, the child has access to undivided attention from the teacher, however in a small group session the child can observe and learn alongside peers which is beneficial.
